Legislative and Legal Institute Student Congress on Policies in Education (SCOPE) Summer Law Institute See All TSBA Meetings School Board Academies State Law mandates that school board members attend training. State Board of Education Rules and Regulations require that every board member participate in seven hours of training annually. TSBA provides the training in five core modules: Board/Superintendent Relations, Advocating Your Board’s Vision; Policy/Board Operations; School Finance and School Law; and other electives such as Planning, Teaming, and four online modules offered by request. See All School Board Academies TSBA District Data Dashboard Welcome to the TSBA District Data Dashboard. TSBA designed the dashboard to assist local boards of education in preparing their students for relevant pathways of success. The dashboard provides district and regional labor market statistics, district demographics and academic and financial data to assist boards in their planning process. Boards can use the data to develop courses and training consistent with the needs of the local labor market. Visit the TSBA District Data Dashboard Legislative Legislative advocacy is an essential part of advancing public education in Tennessee. TSBA’s Government Relations Department advocates for the collective interests of our membership at the General Assembly, as determined by our Delegate Assembly, position statements, and constitution and bylaws. The department monitors legislation that impacts school districts and maintains direct communication with legislators, state agencies, and stakeholder groups in the education arena to achieve the Association’s goals. TSBA’s Legal Department provides legal assistance and renders legal opinions upon request from local boards of education and superintendents. We have four attorneys on staff that are well-versed in education law and have a unique understanding of the legal issues affecting school boards. Learn More Policy TSBA’s Policy Department delivers educational, administrative, organizational, and legal assistance to school boards by providing consistent, effective, and current policies that comply with applicable statutory and/or regulatory requirements. Our staff is available to help answer questions and provide resources on policy development. Currently 127 out of 141 Tennessee school districts subscribe to TSBA's Policy Service.
